Deep in the heart of TEXAS

What a fun week we had talking about TEXAS! We talked a lot about fun Texas facts and about just how big Texas is!In ART Center this week, we created a large TEXAS flag for our class room!We painted some cowboy boots!
We also painted the state large animal, the longhorn, as well as adding a few bluebonnets! We had some really GREAT show-n-tells this week! This fun quilt was a huge hit! We all took turns rolling around on TEXAS!In Centers this week we worked on gluing some Texas shaped pasta on the state of Texas! We created a Texas collage using stickers on one of our walls.

We looked for rocks in our sensory table.
We used our hammer boards. And, we sorted colored pasta. For snack we made a yummy cowboy trail mix!The highlight of our week was our Chili Cook Off! It was so much fun! The kids really seemed to like the Chili too!
A big thank you to some of our Chili Judges!

We also celebrated sweet Sierra's 3rd Birthday with yummy cupcakes! Can you guess what color the icing was on the cupcakes? Much love!

Important Reminders!

Do not forget that $150.00 is due by March 1st. That is this MONDAY! This will secure your spot if you have signed up for the 2010/2011 year. Please know that the waiting list are much longer this year than ever before. We would hate for someone to accidentally forfeit their spot by forgetting to pay this fee.
We need each student to have a change of clothes in their bags. Unfortunately accidents happen, and we need to be prepared. Please make sure that your child has everything from an extra pair of underwear to and extra pair of socks!
Please know that we do our show-n-tell during our circle time and we STRONGLY encourage you to let your child bring something that goes along with our unit.

Chili Cook Off!

Next week (March 1-4) will be our Deep in the Heart of Texas unit.

We will be doing our first
HIS KIDS CHILI COOK OFF!
Heather along with some other members of the His Kids team will be our judges! They will be awarding prizes not only for Best Chili but also things like Best in Show, etc. It should be loads of fun!
We will be providing the chili, but we need help with all the fixings. If you have not already signed up to bring something and would like to, just let one of us know.
Our classes are encouraged to wear western clothes on Tuesday and Wednesday!

Outer Space

Our unit this week was OUTER SPACE!
Our bible story this week was Son of Laughter from Genesis 12-21.
Then the LORD brought Abram outside beneath the night sky and told him,
"Look up into the heavens and count the stars if you can….” Gen. 15:5
We talked all about different planets. We learned that we live on earth. We learned that some are very hot and others are very cold. We even discussed how some have hoops around them. Everyone thought this was funny when we compared them to hula hoops! We talked about stars and the moon!
In art this week, we worked on a group star project. We painted the paper yellow together, then glued the yellow stars.
We also worked on a space stamp collage. We worked with star shaped cookie cutters and play dough. In our sensory table we worked with scissors. We worked on cutting this "space" paper and left over stars from our art project.

Much Love, Cassie & Jen

Reading Buddies

The four year old class is very proud to announce that they are READING!

Ms. Pam and Ms. Sylvia's class came to our room on Tuesday. The children were paired up with reading buddies. The older kids then read a book to the younger kids. This was a very special thing to watch as so many of these 4 year olds were once in class 2A!
These amazing readers will be joining our class every Tuesday until the end of the school year to continue practicing their reading skills!
