Dads and Donuts

Don't forget that on Wednesday, September 29th is Dads and Donuts.

We will begin at 8:50 and it will last only 15-20 in our classroom.

A few tips for the Dads.

The kids usually have a harder time saying goodbye to Dads (sorry Moms.) A lot of times children who have had the very easy separation from the 1st day of school will get sad on Dads and Donuts day when the Dads are leaving. We believe this is because this is not typically the routine for a lot of of students. Since this is not they typical routine for Dads either, they do not always know how to handle the situation of an upset child being dropped off.

Please remember that a quick goodbye is always an easier goodbye. We promise to love on your children and we will absolutely call you if we need to!

Our morning will consist of sharing donuts and juice with the dads. Each student getting a picture taken with their dad and then we will read a short book.

We are really looking forward to the fun morning!

Apples GALORE!!

This week our unit was ALL ABOUT APPLES!

Our Bible Story this week was The Sneaky Snake. In Centers this week we read many apple books!
We sorted apples by color on the felt board. We dug for hidden mini apples using mini tongs. We also picked apples using bigger tongs and worked on putting them in baskets. We used our fine motors to play with apple stickers!

We had lots of fun feeding this horse some apple treats.

We worked on lacing some apple shapes. We also worked on our counting and number recognition with these apple trees. In Art this week we created an apple counting book!

We worked with paints while apple stamping. We also did a project for our scrapbooks :)
We ready MANY apple books, but we think that the favorite was Ten Apples Up On Top. After we read the book everyone got an opportunity to try to balance an apple Up On Top of their heads!
On Thursday we had a yummy snack of apple juice and apple sauce.

We also had two more friends turn 3 this week! Happy Birthday Jacob and Avery! We celebrated with donuts with sprinkes!
Much LOVE, Cassie and Jen

Apples

This week our unit is all about Apples.

Please notice that outside our door we have a sign up for someone to bring apple juice and apple sauce to school on Thursday.

Thank you!!

Carpool

We really hope you are all enjoying doing carpool. Some of you have older sibling in the program so this is not new information. Some of you, this is your first time...

Some important reminders:

ABSOLUTELY NO talking on your cell phone!

We can not buckle your child in the car. Please drive up and out of the line if you need to assist them with this.

Do not get out of your car while in the carpool line.

Please make sure your child's name sign is clearly visible.

Please make sure that your back passenger side is cleared of "stuff" that accumulates in the car for the children to get in.

We only have 1 friend that does not do carpool. Obviously we can not carry 11 bags and 11 nap mats to the carpool. Your child will be responsible to carry their own things. This is a very new concept to MANY of them. Encourage your child to practice by bringing their own belongings into the school in the mornings!

Our 5 Sesnses!

This week our unit was I am Fantastic from my Nose to my Toes. We talked a lot about how wonderful and unique each child is and we discussed our 5 senses! The children are doing so well in Circle Time! The first week our circle time was very short (about 5 minutes) their attention is growing so quickly we are almost at the point of doing a full Circle Time! This is amazing!! They are enjoying singing many of our Circle Time song. He are some fun shots of us singing our Peek a Boo song!
In Art this week, we worked on a Texture Collage. We discussed how different all of our materials felt.We also made a 5 senses book! When we talked about the sense of taste, we had lots of fun tasting many different things. We tasted some salt and vinegar chips, unsweetened baking chocolate, and lemons! But of course we had to end our food sampling with some Hershey's Kisses!

When we discussed the sense of smell, we were able to smell different scents. We then graphed our favorite. Can you believe that Moth Balls were the winner??

If you come to our room and it smells like moth balls, there is a very good reason why! We (Cassie and Jen) had some fun hiding moth balls (which are VERY strong) is some of the other teachers rooms. They are out to get us now...we have been finding them ALL over our room. Cassie even found some that were tossed in her purse :) In Centers this week we worked with these Nuts and Bolts. We played in our Dramatic Play center in the kitchen. We worked very hard on matching colors with the Color Game.We also worked with Play Dough. We have said it before but, one of the main things that we work on in the 2's class is our independence. They are doing great! Here are some pics of a sweet friend cleaning up some spilled water at snack time and some friends opening their own food! Much Love, C & J
