We are HEALTHY!

We love our We are HEALTHY unit.

We have so much fun doing lots of different experiments!

The first one we worked on was our giant Dinosaur Teeth we found :) We soaked them in soda, apple juice and water to see which one left the most sugar bugs. We then tried to scrub those pesky bugs off. It was very tricky, but at the end of the day, everyone got the point that soda is not a healthy choice! Our next experiment was all about germs. We had to figure out a way to get germs (cinnamon) off of our hands. First we tried just rubbing them off. That did not work. Next, we tried to wipe them off with just water. That did not work either. Finally we figured out if we used soap and water and washed them for a long time (the time it took us to sing our ABC song) all the germs would wash off!We worked on making teeth out of play dough! We ready many books about staying healthy! We used a toothbrush to paint a giant tooth! In our sensory table this week, we looked for teeth that were hidden in shaving cream and the brushed them with HUGE toothbrushes!
Ms. Erin from Kids Healthy Teeth (there is now a link in the LINKS section) and her friend Sami came to our school to explain to everyone what to expect when we go to the dentist. Our friends were WONDERFUL. Everyone was so polite and attentive for her!

In fact, my own children had a dentist appointment a few days after she came. When I walked into the office, everyone said that when Erin came back from being at our school she went on and on about how great your kids were!Much Love,

LOVE is in the air.

HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER. Psalms 106:1
To celebrate Valentine's Day, of course our unit was all about Love! We talked so much about how we love our parents and each other, but most importantly all about God's Love

Our bible story this week was Jesus and the Children.

Our monthly song for February is so FAST, we can barely keep up (even us, as the teachers) it usually turns into a bunch of giggles, patting our legs and shaking our heads! In Art this week, we worked on making our Valentine bags.
We also made some gorgeous spin art hearts!
(love this... pulling the string became a group effort)

We also made a heart collage. We used these new cool glue pens! In our sensory table this week, we had TONS of glitter, water and heart shaped sponges! It is amazing how glitter can stick to EVERYTHING when it is wet!In Centers this week, we worked on scooping red pom poms into hearts using spoons.
We worked with scissors to cut out hearts and to cut Valentine's wrapping paper. We sorted conversation candy hearts by color. We also worked with play dough and heart shaped cookie cutters. The highlight of the week was passing out our Valentines! Everyone was so polite. We were very proud to hear so many tell their friends "thank you" with out being prompted. We hope everyone has a VERY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Much love,
Cassie and Jen
