update on Can Food Drive

Even though we have 2 classes, we get to combine our canned goods and if we win, both our M/T and W/TH class will get an ICE CREAM PARTY.

We are in 7th place :(

Eric Carle Extravaganza!
(sadly, my camera battery died and I have very few pictures from this week)

This is one of our FAVORITE units! We love so many Eric Carle books, so this unit is a fun unit for us! We read so many books. The children LOVED using the felt pieces to go along with the books Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Polar Bear Polar Bear as we read them.

We think their favorite was The Hungry Caterpillar (because really...who doesn't love this book?) and The Grouchy Ladybug. They thought it was the funniest thing every to hear the ladybug say "Hey you....you wanta fight?"

Our Bible Story this week was A Changed Man from Acts 9:1-19.

In Art this week we made a project for our Thanksgiving Feast we will be having and we worked on our own Hungry Caterpillar as a class project.

Canned Food Drive

His Kids Weekday Preschool will be hosting a Canned Food Drive. All proceeds will be donated to Angels of Light.

This is such an AMAZING mission project.

The class that receives the most cans will receive an ICE CREAM PARTY! A Two Year Old Class has NEVER one this party. Let's show those "big kids" that even though we are the "little ones" we have BIG hearts!

Upcoming Thanksgivng Feast

Our Thanksgiving Feast is coming up fast. They will be held on Tuesday, November 17th and Thursday, November 19th.

This year our Feast will be done entirely different than in the past and different than how we originally told many parents!

We will be enjoying our feast as a school all together! We will be bringing out tables to the preschool lobby for all of the classes to eat together.

We need parents to sign up to help volunteer to make this event a success! If you are available to help, please sign up in Heather's office.
Sign ups are also posted outside our door for items that can be brought to the Feast.

Thursday will be an early dismissal day. There will be NO lunch bunch on this date. Our school will close at 12:30. This is not on the original schedule that you were given.

Normally the Thanksgiving Parties are "in-class" parties, which means we ask that parents do not come. This year, all are invited! Just know, it will be crowded. Also know, that if you come (on Tuesday) we will be asking that you do not leave your child for rest. Two goodbyes in one day can be very confusing and very hard on them.
If you have ANY questions, please just ask us!

November 2 - November 5, 2009

Our unit this week was Community Helpers!

We talked all about different people who are our Community Helpers. Our Bible Story this week was the Burning Bush.

We had a great time reading so many Community Helper Books in our Library Center. We listened to Sparky (a firefighting book) in our Listening Center too.
We played with different Community Helper Vehicles and sand in our Sensory Table. We played with Rescue Heroes!
We also worked with many fun tools! On Tuesday and Wednesday we focused on Fire Fighters! Here we drew fire on a house. We then talked about how Fire Fighters put out fires. (sorry...I don't have any pictures of the blue crayon "water" done over all the red "fire") We had a great time using this poem to play a game. The children would pretend they were sleeping Fire Fighters, at the end of the poem we would make a loud "bell" noise and the children would run around the classroom looking for the small "fire" we had hidden. They would then use their imaginary water hoses to put out the fire.In ART this week we made a Doctor Bag collage using all real things that could be found in their Doctor's office. (so sorry.... forgot to take a picture of this project)

We also did a group painting project. We worked as a team to paint "fire", then we cut the paper to resemble flames. Our WONDERFUL director Ms. Heather asked us to come and visit with her for a little bit. She talked to us about Fire Safety. She also let us watch a very short ELMO video about Fire Safety. She then gave each of us a Fire Truck whistle and a Fire Hat!Of course the highlight of our week was getting to check out the Fire Truck and meeting the Fire Fighters. The weather has been gorgeous lately, so we have been taking advantage of it! We stayed a little longer outside to just play and enjoy our AWESOME playground! We also celebrated Mollie and Brennan's Birthday this week!

Love,
